Goa government has launched Goem Vinamulya Veej Yevjan Scheme to boost solar rooftop installation in the state. It is a significant move towards sustainable energy and would raise solar energy adoption among state residents. This initiative is aligned with the Prime Minister's Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. About Goem Vinamulya Veej Yevjan Scheme 2024 in Goa

On 27th July 2024, Chief Minister of Goa launched Goem Vinamulya Veej Yevjan Scheme. While launching the scheme, CM Sawant stated that with an initial investment of Rs. 35 crore, in addition to the Central Financial Assistance, the Goa Energy Development Agency will bear the balance cost of the rooftop installation up to 5 kW for consumers consuming 400 or fewer units for the last year. 

The hon'ble Chief Minister urged all residential consumers, to strengthen the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan by availing of the benefits of a zero electricity bill. PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their electricity. He additionally informed that the scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore and is to be implemented till FY 2026-27.

Earlier, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant lauded the Union Budget for focusing on a range of domains, saying that it is a "pro budget" for the villages, poor as well as the industrial sector. "The way there has been major expenditure of defence, rural development, agriculture, education, IT, health, energy and software, commerce and industry, it seems that this is a pro budget for 'gaanv', 'gareeb' as well as the industrial sector," CM Sawant said. 

The Chief Minister said that Goa will reap the maximum benefits from the Union Budget 2024-25. "From this budget, we will take the maximum benefit by way of infrastructure development, schemes, special proposals for Goa," CM Sawant said. "This is a budget that will fulfil the 25-year vision of Viksit Bharat given by PM Modi," he added.

Goem Vinamulya Veej Yevjan Yojna Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Goa state.
  • He / She should belong to poor and middle-income households.
  • Applicants should have their own residence with a roof suitable for installing solar panels.
  • Each applicant must have a valid electricity connection at their home.
  • Applicants should not have availed of any other subsidy for solar panels.

How to Apply Online for Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan Scheme

  • Step 1: Register in the Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan portal with the following:-
    • Select your State & Electricity Distribution Company
    • Enter your Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number & Email
  • Step 2: 
    • Login with Consumer Number & Mobile Number.
    • Apply for the Rooftop Solar as per the form
  • Step 3: Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM
  • Step 4: Once installation is completed , submit the plant details and apply for net meter
  • Step 5: Commissioning certificate will be generated from the portal, after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM
  • Step 6: Once you get the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
