Under the scheme, if a SHG member passes away due to an accident or natural causes, the loan taken by that member will be waived off. The government is also offering a Rs. 5 lakh life insurance facility for approximately 63.86 lakh women in SHGs. Each village group will be provided with a Rs. 1 crore loan, totaling Rs. 5,000 crore earmarked for this purpose.
Furthermore, mini-industrial parks will be established in every Assembly constituency for aspiring women industrialists. Telangana government is prioritizing financial empowerment, employment opportunities, and skill-based training for women. For example, SHGs will be given stitching contracts for school and police uniforms, along with sewing machine training in district and mandal headquarters. Mini solar units and sanitary napkins will also be established.

TS state govt. will transform lives of 63.86 lakh SHG members from mere participants to prosperous entrepreneurs under a new initiative called Telangana Mahila Shakti. The initiative comes on the heels of past grievances, with the previous government led by BRS alleged to have failed to uphold promises of interest-free loans. BRS govt. had left a staggering Rs. 3,750 crore in arrears. To prevent a recurrence of such setbacks, Congress led TS govt. is rolling out a zero-interest loan scheme coupled with provisions for timely reimbursement of interest every six months.
Objective of TS Mahila Shakti Scheme
The main objective of the Telangana Mahila Shakti Scheme is to turn Self Help Group (SHG) women from Lakhpatis to Crorepatis. In order to achieve this, new plans are being introduced for the Telangana Mahila Shakti, formerly known as IKP SHGs. TS govt. is taking measures to provide 0 interest loans to members and ensure regular reimbursement of interest amounts every six months.
