Just before assembly elections, Delhi government cabinet has given a go-ahead for Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana. Delhi assembly elections for 70 seats are scheduled to be held by Feb 2025, with dates yet to be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Delhi Mahila Samman Yojana was included in the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 and the state govt. has allocated Rs. 2000 crore for the same. This scheme was firstly proposed by the AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal. Under this scheme, the state govt. will provide Rs. 1000 per month to women above 18 years of age.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was speaking at a public rally where he mentioned that every women of Delhi state will now be able to apply online for Kejriwal Rs. 1000 Scheme. Any women who wants to get money will have to fill application form for Rs. 1000 scheme. This was the guarantee of Chief minister and now it has been fulfilled.
Earlier, Delhi CM said "As AAP government is present in Delhi, every daughter above 18 years, sister, mother, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, and grandmother will get Rs. 1,000 per month in their accounts. I guarantee it". He further said that he has made this decision very thoughtfully and with full calculation.
CM Arvind Kejriwal further added that this time women have voted for the right party and given AAP party a chance. All the pre poll promises would be fulfilled soon.

Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana has been designed to improve the scheme is designed to improve the quality of life of underprivileged women. This scheme offers monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 to eligible women in Delhi. On 12th December 2024, Former CM and AAP leader Kejriwal said "I had promised ₹1000 per month for women of Delhi. And I am happy to announce that CM Atishi's cabinet has approved this scheme today. Now women can register and avail this scheme." Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of NCT of Delhi.
- The applicant must be a female and 18 years or above in age.
- Annual family income of the applicant must not exceed Rs. 3 lakh per annum.
- Excluded are the women:-
- Who are currently a part of any government pension scheme, or
- Who are Government employees or
- Who are an income tax payer
- A self-declared affidavit stating eligibility criteria, including one that is not receiving any sort of benefits from the government.

- Address proof: It can be in the form of an electricity bill, water bill, or ration card.

Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana in Delhi Budget 2024-25
Finance Minister presented Delhi Budget 2024-25 on 4 March 2024. While delivering the budget speech, FM said "Speaker Sir, whenever a daughter or sister in our families comes home, her elder brother or father gives her some money because they want their sister or daughter to fulfill her needs without being dependent on anyone. Today, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, fulfilling the duty of being an elder brother, and a son, is bringing the “Mukyamantri Mahila Samman Yojna” in the year 2024-25. Under this scheme, every woman above the age of 18 years will be eligible to receive an honorarium of Rs. 1000 per month. So, whether she is a daughter studying in college needing extra books, a daughter preparing for a Government job needing coaching, or a woman wishing to watch a movie in a cinema hall; now, they won't have to ask for money from anyone for their expenses because their brother Arvind Kejriwal will provide them with Rs. 1000 every month."
FM added "A new revolutionary scheme is being brought. The name of this scheme is 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana'. Under this scheme, every woman above 18 years of age will be given Rs. 1,000 every month".

This Rs. 1,000 to be received by each woman will be separate from the monthly old-age pension, widow pension, disability pension or dependency pension which women are already receiving.
