YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme Allocation in AP Budget 2024-25

Andhra Pradesh government has launched YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme for welfare of fishermen community. Under this scheme, each fishermen will now receive Rs. 10,000 (earlier Rs. 4,000) during the fishing ban period. This assistance amount is even extended to those fishermen who have already benefited from other schemes like Rythu Bharosa, Vahana Mitra and YSR Pension Kanuka schemes. YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme in AP Budget 2024-25

On 7th February 2024, Finance Minister presented AP Budget 2024-25. While presenting the Andhra Pradesh Budget, FM said "Under YSR Matsyakara Bharosa, 2.43 lakh fishermen families benefitted from enhancement of the fishing ban-period relief from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000. The enhanced subsidy on diesel oil from Rs 6.03 per litre to Rs 9.00 per litre covers 20,034 fishing boats. The ex-gratia for untimely death of fishermen during fishing was enhanced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh".

  • A new page will be displayed on your screen.
  • Read the instructions given on the page carefully and enter the information asked on the registration form
  • Upload all of the supporting documents with the Matsyakara Bharosa application form.
  • Click on submit button to complete the AP YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme registration process.

Benefits of AP Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme

  • Increased assistance of Rs. 10,000 (previously Rs. 4,000) to fishermen.
  • Diesel subsidy of Rs. 9 per litre which was Rs. 6.03 earlier. 
  • Earlier, financial assistance was only given to those fishermen who uses mechanised and motorized boats. But the current dispensation would extend benefits to even those fishermen who uses hunting rafts.
  • Ex-gratia provided to fishermen families who died while hunting has been raised from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh. 
  • All the fishermen in 18 to 60 years of age group can avail this benefit.

Eligibility Criteria for YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh state.
  • The applicant must be a fisherman by occupation.
  • Fishermen must be operating mechanised, motorised and non-motorised fishing nets.

Other Measures for Welfare of Fisheries Sector in AP

While presenting Andhra Pradesh Budget 2024-25 on 7th February 2024, Finance Minister said the following things for the overall development of fisheries sector in Andhra Pradesh:- 
  • Ten Fishing Harbours are being constructed, as per international standards to facilitate deep sea fishing & 35 integrated aqua labs are being established to provide inputs testing facilities at the village level. For market linkage, 2,000 'Fish Andhra' retail stores are established and linked to the 26 Aqua hubs. 
  • The AP State Aquaculture Development Authority was established for regulation, monitoring and promoting aquaculture. The Fishery Sciences University in West Godavari District is functioning from 1st April 2022. 
  • New livelihood opportunities to 16.5 lakh people have been generated by bringing 2.12 lakh hectares of area under aquaculture, making the state the Aqua Hub of India.
