Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) will be operating the "SWAYAM Plus" Platform. IIT Madras was among the founder institutions of Swayam-NPTEL, the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform providing educational opportunities for a vast number of learners. A popular e-learning platform, SWAYAM has the largest enrolment base today, with the total enrolment increasing from 31 lakh in 2017 to more than 72 lakh by end of 2023.
Swayam Plus Portal Registration 2024 & Login
- First of all, visit the official Swayam Plus Portal at https://swayam-plus.swayam2.ac.in/
- At the homepage, existing Swayam users can make login using "Sign In for existing Swayam users" tab. However, new users will have to make registration first by click "Register for new users" tab.
- Upon clicking the "Register" tab, it will ask for Sign in with your social account.
- Then you can Sign in with either 'Microsoft Account' or 'Google' account.
- Afterwards, the User details entering page will open.
- Enter name, email ID and click "Send verification code" button. Then enter the received code and validate it.
- Finally, click "Continue" to complete registration process and then make Swayam Plus login.
About Swayam Plus Portal
India aims to achieve a higher education Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of 50% by 2035 and 65% by 2047, which implies the addition of 37 million and 66 million learners respectively to the current system. To achieve this, the government has recognized the need to look at non‐linear models of growth and leverage the role of technology in ensuring all learners have equitable access to high‐quality education.
One such initiative, SWAYAM, is the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) existing Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform providing educational opportunities for a vast number of learners. It aims to bring the best teaching and learning resources to everyone, especially those who have yet to benefit from the digital revolution and access the knowledge economy.
In alignment with NEP 2020, the Ministry recognizes the need for SWAYAM to expand its existing offerings to identify and include courses aligned with industry needs and that enhance learners’ employability. To this extent, SWAYAM Plus will be launched in collaboration with leading industry players and ed‐tech companies to bring employability and professional development‐focused programs to its learners.
Objectives of Swayam Plus Platform
SWAYAM Plus will primarily focus on achieving the following:-- Building an ecosystem for all stakeholders in professional and career development, including learners, course providers, industry, academia, and strategic partners.
- High‐quality learning and certification programs from the best industry and academia at affordable costs.
- Employment‐focused programs imparting future skills in chosen domains
- Reach a large learner base by catering to learning across the country, with a focus on reaching learners from tier 2 and 3 towns

Governance of Swayam Plus Platform
- SWAYAM Plus is an initiative funded by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education.
- IIT Madras has been appointed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) as a nodal agency for implementing SWAYAM +.
- A Programme Implementation Committee consisting of members from academia and industry, instated by SWAYAM Plus, will establish the criteria and evaluate each of the partners and their courses, to be onboarded on the platform.

The salient features of SWAYAM Plus includes the following:-- Multilingual content: The platform will be multilingual, encouraging a diverse audience to choose Swayam Plus as a platform of choice.
- AI-Enabled chatbot: An AI-enabled chatbot will assist the students choose the right courses based on their needs.
