Maharashtra state cabinet further decided that there will be no increase in property tax for Mumbaikars. A proposal in this regard was approved by the Maharashtra Government today. According to an official press release, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai will have to bear a burden of 736 crore rupees in order to provide relief to citizens.
Meanwhile, considering the success of the Employment Fair held in Nagpur recently, the cabinet has decided to hold the Namo Maharojgar Fair at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Pune and Konkan divisions with an aim to provide job opportunities to atleast 2 lakh youngsters.
About Maharashtra Mukhyamantri Vayoshri Yojana 2024
On 5 February 2024, Maharashtra govt. led by CM Eknath Shinde has announced to start Mukhyamantri Vayoshri Yojana. Under this scheme, citizens above the age of 65 years will be screened and those found eligible would be given Rs. 3,000.
Chief Minister Vayoshree Yojana would be implemented across all districts of the state at an approx. cost of Rs. 480 crores.
Eligibility Criteria for Chief Minister Vayoshree Yojana
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra state.
- Senior citizens who suffer from some physical or mental disability are eligible.
- Minimum age required is 65 years i.e beneficiaries must be at-least 65 years old.
Amount under CM Vayoshri Scheme in Maharashtra
Senior citizens above the age of 65 years will be screened and those found eligible would be given Rs. 3,000 as assistance amount under CM Vayoshri Yojana.

In order to boost the confidence of depositors in cooperative societies, the Maharashtra govt. has announced an assistance scheme. The state government will form an independent entity that will pay back deposits of upto Rs. 1,00,000 in case a non-agricultural cooperative society goes bankrupt. While the government has announced an initial corpus of Rs. 100 crore as its contribution for this entity, the cooperatives too will have to contribute 10 paise for every Rs. 100 deposits that they receive.
