Assam Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2.0 (Second Edition) Launch
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a new app for the second edition of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan at the Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati on 19th July 2024. While addressing a press conference at the launch, CM Sarma said that this year the forest department has prepared 4 crore in house saplings, with a target of 3 crore saplings planted this year. He further added that 90% of the 1.12 crore saplings that were planted last year in the first edition of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan survived."This year, the state forest department has prepared four crore saplings (in-house). This year, our target is a three crore sapling plantation. We planted 1.12 crore saplings last year. 90% out of 1.12 crore saplings have survived," Sarma said. Amrit Brikshya Andolan will be held between August 1 and 15.
CM Sarma also stated that their target is to plant 10 crore saplings in three to four years and to expand the forest cover from 36% to 38%. "Our target is to plant 10 crore saplings in three to four years. There is 36% forest cover in Assam and we want to expand it to 38%," CM said. He also mentioned that there will be 4000 distribution points set up across the state from where saplings will be distributed. He also urged the people to register their names in the Amrit Brikshya Andolan app or portal and upload photos of plantations to the portal.
The hon'ble CM further stated that this year they will also have the involvement of defence personnel, including the Army and the Indian Air Force, to take part in the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. Last year, the Amrit Brikshya Andolan was started on September 17, but sapling distribution started on September 12. A total of 10 Guinness World Records were created last year in the first edition of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan.
Amrit Brikshya Andolan in Assam Budget 2024-25
On 12th February 2024, Finance Minister presented Assam Budget 2024-25. While presenting the budget, FM said "Under the Amrit Brikshya Andolan, over one crore seedlings of 53 commercially selected valuable species across the state have been planted. Over 48 lakh citizens registered themselves through the mobile app and 1.12 crore seedlings were planted. 10 Guinness World Records were created in connection with this tree plantation drive through Jan Bhagidari".FM added "This year, we will undertake 3 crore sapling plantation and for this purpose I allocate an amount of Rs. 40 crore for this purpose".

Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) in Amrit Brikshya Andolan
For planting seedling and uploading the image of the seedling planted along with geo-location and timestamp, the participants will get a financial grant of Rupees one hundred. Upon survival of the plant, they will receive another grant of Rupees 200. As sole owner of the tree, he/she will be responsible for its care.Seedling Distribution under Amrit Brikshya Abhiyan
