Chhattisgarh government has launched Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana (श्री रामलला दर्शन योजना) by flagging off 1st special train from Raipur to Ayodhya on 5th March 2024. This scheme was earlier announced on 10 January 2024 by the Chief Minister himself. In Ayodhya Dham Scheme, the state govt. will provide free travel facility for 20,000 people to Ayodhya temple. CG state residents in the age group of 18 years to 75 years, found medically fit, will be eligible for a free travel under the scheme. CG Ramlala Darshan Scheme Launch Details

CG Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on 5th March 2024 launched Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana. He flagged off a special train bound for Ayodhya from Raipur. The train carrying 850 pilgrims from all 5 districts of Raipur division, departed for Ayodhya amid chants of "Jai Shri Ram". CM said "This is a momentous occasion as people of Chhattisgarh go on a journey to seek blessings of Lord Rama".

The hon'ble CM announced that such special trains would run once in a week from Bilaspur and Raigarh in the coming days. Besides Ayodhya, tours to other religious sites would also be organised. Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to facilitate visit to Ayodhya Ram Temple for pilgrims at govt. expenses. 

Shri Ram Lala Darshan Yojana in Chhattisgarh Budget 2024-25

On 9 February 2024, Finance Minister presented CG Budget 2024-25. While presenting the Chhattisgarh Budget, FM said "प्रदेश वासियों को श्री राम लला के दर्शन करवाने हेतु 35 करोड़ का प्रावधान किया गया है।"  

About CG Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana 2024 

The Chhattisgarh cabinet on 10 Jan 2024 announced the "Shri Ramlala Darshan (Ayodhya Dham)" scheme, under which 20,000 people from the state will be taken to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh every year. This visit visit to the newly constructed Ram Temple would be absolutely free of cost.
The free travel scheme is one of the promises made by the ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh ahead of the recently concluded CG Assembly elections in the state. Residents in the 18-75 age group, found medically fit, will be eligible for a free travel under the scheme. In the first phase, those above 55 years will be able to avail this facility.

People with disabilties will need to be accompanied by a family member, it said. The state tourism board will implementation the scheme, with the budget being provided by the tourism department.

Chhattisgarh to Ayodhya Free Travel Scheme Tour Details

The main destination under the scheme will be Ayodhya; however, there will be a night stay in Varanasi, a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath temple and corridor and an opportunity to witness the Ganga aarti. The scheme will be implemented by the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and the target is to take around 20,000 citizens to Ayodhya under the scheme every year. The tour will be around 900km and will be undertaken by trains, for which a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed between the state tourism board and IRCTC.

IRCTC will make arrangements for security, health, food, visits to different spots under the scheme, local transport and escort. For the transport from the residence of beneficiaries to designated railway stations, the respective district collectors will make the arrangements, the government note said. At present, a train per week will be provided by IRCTC, but the number might increase in the future, leading to an increase in the number of beneficiaries, the government said.

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Chhattisgarh state.
  • The age of applicant must lie b/w 18 to 75 years.
  • Each applicant must be medically fit.
  • Applicant can take benefit of Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana only once in their lifetime.
  • Government officials and employees cannot take part in Ayodhya Dham Scheme.
  • Even People with disabilties can visit Ram Temple in Ayodhya. However, such PwD applicants will need to be accompanied by a family member.
