Under Aashirwad scheme, the state govt. provides Rs. 51000 financial assistance on marriage of girl child. This scheme was earlier known as Shagun scheme.
The cabinet minister said that these beneficiaries are from Amritsar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Moga, Muktsar Sahib, Patiala, Pathankot, Sangrur and Malerkotla districts. She explained that 224 beneficiaries from Amritsar, 38 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 111 from Fazilka, 182 from Gurdaspur, 181 from Hoshiarpur, 24 from Kapurthala, 760 from Ludhiana, 18 from Moga, 33 from Muktsar Sahib, 883 from Patiala, and 102 from Malerkotla have been covered.
She said that one beneficiary of Barnala, 482 of Faridkot, 757 of Gurdaspur, 1,356 of Hoshiarpur, 253 of Malerkotla, 817 of Moga, 935 of Muktsar Sahib, 854 of Sangrur and 859 of Tarn Taran have been covered. The minister added that an applicant should be a permanent citizen of Punjab, and living below the poverty line.
But this financial aid is only for those girls who are above 18 years. Ashirwad scheme is also applicable to Muslims girls of 18 years or above age, along with scheduled caste, christian, backward class/caste, economically weaker section families and daughters of widows of any caste. Scheduled caste widows/divorcees are also entitled to the benefit at the time of their re-marriage.
Punjab Ashirwad Yojana Latest Update
On 31st July 2024, Punjab government has released Rs. 14.01 crore to 2,748 beneficiaries under Ashirwad Scheme for backward classes and economically weaker sections for the fiscal year 2023-24. The state minister of social justice, empowerment and minorities Dr Baljit Kaur said that this allocation has been made from the budget provision of FY 2024-25.

Punjab Ashirwad Scheme July 2024 Update
On 13th July 2024, the Punjab govt has released Rs. 32.20 crore from the budget provision of 2024-25 to 6,314 beneficiaries of the Scheduled Castes (SCs) for 2023-24 under the Ashirwad Scheme for SCs. Ashirwad Scheme in Punjab Budget 2024-25
On 5th March 2024, Finance Minister presented Punjab Budget 2024-25. While delivering the budget speech, FM said "The Government has provisioned ₹5,925 crore in FY 2024-25 for
providing social security pension across different categories.
Further, to implement other welfare schemes such as Poshan Abhiyaan; Ashirwad Scheme; Accessible India Campaign; Pradhan Mantri Adarsh
Gram Yojana, an allocation of ₹1,053 crore has been earmarked in the next

- Once you reach homepage, click at "Applicant Registration" link or https://ashirwad.punjab.gov.in/Public/ApplicantRegistration.aspx
- Then Punjab Ashirwad scheme online registration form 2024 will open.
- Enter aadhar number, name, date of birth, name, gender, relation with girl (bride), annual income, BPL number, religion, caste, mobile number, state, district, tehsil, address and click "Save" button.

About Punjab Ashirwad Scheme 2024
Ashirwad Scheme in Punjab aims to give Rs. 51,000 aid on wedding of girl children. The state government has renamed the earlier Shagun Scheme to Aashirwad Scheme. Punjab state govt. has already spent Rs. 129.29 crore on 25,399 beneficiaries of Ashirwad scheme in the present financial year. A total amount of Rs. 161.31 crore has been earmarked for assistance under Aashirwad Scheme. The state govt. will provide Rs. 51,000 to girls from SC, ST, OBC category on their marriage. For availing assistance, applicant girl should be a permanent resident of Punjab and a BPL card holder. Two women of each family are eligible to avail the benefit. Money under Ashirwad scheme will be credited directly into the benefeciary’s bank accounts, which should be linked with Aadhaar.Raising Amount under Ashirwad Scheme
Under Shagun Scheme, Punjab govt was providing Rs. 15,000 as a financial assistance for marriage of daughter belonging from poor family in the state. This amount was then raised to Rs. 21,000 per beneficiary. Then with changing the name of Shagun to Aashirwad Scheme, the state govt. was providing financial assistance of Rs. 21,000 as ashirwad to girls belonging to poor section.Next, Punjab Cabinet on 28 April 2021 approved a further hike in financial assistance under the Ashirwad scheme from Rs. 21,000 to Rs. 51,000 per beneficiary. It also gave directions to clear all payment backlog under the Ashirwad scheme. This was the 2nd hike in scheme amount which came into effect from 1 July 2021. At that time, the state Cabinet had also decided to make payment direct into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through the online banking management system, under the scheme implemented by the Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities department.
But this financial aid is only for those girls who are above 18 years. Ashirwad scheme is also applicable to Muslims girls of 18 years or above age, along with scheduled caste, christian, backward class/caste, economically weaker section families and daughters of widows of any caste. Scheduled caste widows/divorcees are also entitled to the benefit at the time of their re-marriage.
Highlights of Aashirwad Scheme Punjab
- Only girls belonging to Punjab state are eligible.
- To get financial assistance on marriage, apply online/ offline as mentioned above.
- Only those girls who are 18 years of age or above can apply.
- Financial assistance amount will be transferred directly into bank account of the beneficiaries through DBT mode.
- Annual income of the family from all sources should not exceed Rs. 32,790.
- Parents/guardians of the girl should be domiciled in Punjab.
- Financial assistance under Ashirwad scheme is limited to two girls only from one family.
- Applicant is required to submit application for getting financial assistance in the prescribed proforma before the date of marriage or 30 days after the of the marriage of the girl.
