SMILE Scheme registration 2024 and login process begins at transgender.dosje.gov.in. SMILE scheme is aimed to create an inclusive society wherein transgender persons & persons involved in the act of beggary (beggars) live a life of dignity and respect. The new SMILE scheme ropes in the support of state Governments/UTs/Local urban bodies, voluntary organizations, community based organizations (CBOs) and institutions and others so that they can work together in a coordinated manner for the welfare of this marginalized section.

SMILE Scheme Registration 2024 / Login

  • Enter name, email ID, mobile number, select state and click "Register" button to complete SMILE scheme online registration form filling process.
  • Then go to homepage and click "Applicant Login" or https://transgender.dosje.gov.in/Applicant/Login/Index
  • Next applicant login page for SMILE Scheme at transgender.dosje.gov.in portal will open.
  • Enter username, email ID and click "Login" button to make Applicant login.
  • To apply for the welfare scheme kindly login to your account on the National Portal for Transgender Persons.

About SMILE Scheme 2024

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has started a new SMILE Scheme. SMILE stands for Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise. This national level umbrella scheme includes 2 sub-schemes:-
SMILE umbrella scheme would cover several comprehensive measures including welfare measures for both transgender persons and persons who are engaged in the act of begging with focus extensively on rehabilitation, provision of medical facilities, counseling, education, skill development, economic linkages etc with the support of State Governments/UTs/Local Urban Bodies, Voluntary Organizations, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and institutions and others.

How to Apply Online for SMILE Scheme

Applications are invited from interested & eligible transgender persons for:-
  • Issuance of TG Certificate & ID Card
  • Scholarships
  • Skill development training under Support for Marginalized Individuals Livelihood & Enterprise (SMILE) scheme. 
Interested candidates may register at National Portal for Transgender Persons (https://transgender.dosje.gov.in) (if not registered already) and then apply through the login credentials used to issue the Transgender certificate & Identity Card. SMILE-75 Initiative for Beggars

Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment launched SMILE-75 Initiative on 12 August 2022. Central government is implementing SMILE scheme to address the persisting problem of destitution and beggary. Under the SMILE 75 scheme, 75 identified Municipal Corporations, in the spirit of AzadikaAmritMahotsav, will undertake comprehensive rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of begging.

Experts from the field of beggary and eminent NGOs had participated in nationwide launch of SMILE-75 scheme through online and offline mode. SMILE-75 initiative will focus extensively on rehabilitation, provision of medical facilities, counselling, awareness, education, skill development, economic linkages and convergence with other Government welfare programmes etc. MoSJ&E has allocated a total budget of Rs. 100 crore for the SMILE scheme for coming years till 2025-26. 

Support Mechanism for Beggars in SMILE 75 Scheme

Through this SMILE scheme for beggars, the Ministry envisions to develop a support mechanism for holistic rehabilitation of those engaged in the act of begging and build an India where no person is forced to beg in order to survive and fulfill their basic needs.

Objective of SMILE scheme for Beggars

The objective of SMILE - 75 is to make our cities/town and municipal areas begging-free and make a strategy for comprehensive rehabilitation of the persons engaged in the act of begging through the coordinated action of various stakeholders. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment understands the important role of Local Urban Bodies, Civil Society Organisations/Non-Government Organisations to address this persisting social issue with concerted efforts.

Indian govt. has recognised the persisting problem of destitution and beggary and formulated a comprehensive scheme of SMILE which includes a sub-scheme of comprehensive rehabilitation for persons engaged in begging which covers identification, rehabilitation, provision of medical facilities, counselling, and education, skill development for decent job and self-employment / entrepreneurship.
