Check AP Jagananna Free Tabs Scheme 2024 Details: Dear readers, Andhra Pradesh government has given update on AP Free Tablet Computer Scheme for the year 2024. Last year, CM launched 2nd phase of free tablet scheme in which govt. distributed 4.35 lakh tabs among class 8th students. AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had formally launched 2nd phase of free computer tab scheme for Class 8th students and teachers on 21 December 2023. This Jagananna Free Tablet scheme phase 1 was launched on 21 December 2022 (the birthday of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy). In the 1st phase, the state govt. had distributed 5.18 lakh tabs preloaded with Bjyu's premium content free of cost among class 8th students at an expense of Rs. 666 crore. Then in the new AP free tablet scheme for the subsequent years i.e 2023 and 2024, both teachers as well as class 8th students are entitled to get tabs and this scheme will run every year.

Free TABs Scheme in Andhra Pradesh Budget 2024-25

On 7 February 2024, Finance Minister presented Andhra Pradesh Vote on Account Budget 2024-2025. In the presented AP Budget 2024-25, FM said "To facilitate learning through innovative methods, our government has installed 62,000 Interactive Flat Panels with in-built content in all schools & provided 9,52,925 free TABs with pre-loaded content to students and teachers to promote self-learning. This has dramatically improved classroom instruction and learning outcomes, thereby empowering 34.3 lakh students from 4th to 12th grade".

AP Jagananna Free Tabs Scheme 2024 Update

On 5 February 2024, Andhra Pradesh governor S Abdul Nazeer announced that the state government has distributed 9,52,925 tablets loaded with eighth and ninth-grade scholastic content to class eight students, as part of their commitment to digital learning reform in education.

Furthermore, the governor highlighted the installation of 62,000 interactive screens for classes six to 12 and 45,000 smart TVs in primary schools, costing Rs 838 crores, to enhance learning outcomes. The content from Byju's and e-content from SCERT AP will be utilised to facilitate more effective learning.

The governor emphasised the government’s commitment to extensive curricular reforms aimed at preparing students in government schools to become global citizens. "We have introduced comprehensive curricular reforms in school education to equip children in government schools to meet global challenges and evolve into global citizens," he said.

AP Jagananna Free Tablet Scheme 2023 Update

Andhra Pradesh has started distribution of 4.35 lakh tabs (each costing Rs. 33000) among Class 8 students of government schools from 21 December 2023. The tabs under AP Jagananna Free Tablet Scheme, loaded with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, are worth Rs. 620 crore. The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by the Chief Minister. 

The state govt. will distribute 4.35 lakh free tabs to school children over 10 days, at Chintapalli in Alluri Sitaramaraju district. Equipped with preloaded education content, the tabs costing Rs 33,000 each will be distributed to class eight students in all government and aided schools.

These tabs are instruments to shatter generations of poverty. It is one of the steps among many which will usher in a great change in the coming decade. These tabs are for the students to easily understand their lessons," said Reddy at a public meeting while laying emphasis on education. Over the next 10 days, the CM said that MLAs will visit every mandal and participate in the tab distribution programme.

Last year, the government had distributed 5.18 lakh tabs preloaded with Byju’s premium content free of cost among Class 8 students at an expense of Rs. 666 crore. The programme is part of the government’s efforts to make students globally competitive.

AP Free Tablet Computer Scheme 2022-2023 Update

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had launched AP Free Tablet Scheme 2022-2023 on 21 December 2022. While launching the Jagananna Free Tabs scheme, CM YS Jagan said around Rs. 686 crore have been spent for distribution of 5,18,740 tabs. 

Beneficiaries of AP Free Tablet Scheme 2022-2023

On the launch event of AP Free Tablet Scheme, CM distributed free of cost tabs to:- 
  • 4,59,564 class 8th students and
  • 59,176 teachers
Thus we can say that class 8th students and teachers are the major beneficiaries of AP Free tablet computer scheme.

Jagananna Free Tabs Specifications 2022-23

Each of the tablet distributed under AP Free Tablet scheme is loaded with Byju's content. The Chief Minister has marked the official launch of Jagananna free tabs scheme by distributing free of cost tabs to 4.59 lakh Class VIII students besides teachers, which can be used even in offline mode.
The cost of each tab with content is Rs 32,000. The State government's intention is to facilitate digital mode education to enable students to learn easily in classrooms and at home as well. The distribution of tabs will continue for one week across the state starting from 21 December and this event will be held on an annual basis.
This means that now all the class 8th students as well as teachers will get free tablet computers every year.

Salient Features of AP YSR Free Tabs Scheme 2022-23

  • Highlighting the salient features of the tabs, CM said besides Telugu, English and Hindi, the curriculum will be in eight languages designed based on CBSE syllabus to prepare students to perform well at national level competitive exams.
  • Secure mobile device management software has been installed in the tab to secure data and also it will be able to track the students activities. 
  • It would deny access to any undesirable material.
  • The tabs will come with three-year warranty and can be repaired or replaced if given to the concerned village/ward secretariat.
  • According to the Chief Minister, the tabs will be distributed to Class VIII students every year to make subjects easily comprehensible towards providing better education.
AP state govt. is also taking steps to introduce teaching through Interactive Flat Panels (Digital Display Boards) by in 30,032 class rooms of Class 6th and above in 15,634 schools where Nadu-Nedu phase-I works have been completed. Besides that smart TVs will also be set up in foundation and foundation plus schools.

This YSR Free Tablet Computer Scheme is launched on the occassion of birthday of CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He addressed a public gathering where crowd roars "Happy Birthday Jagan".
