Tamil Nadu govt. has started Pudhumai Penn Scheme 2024 apply online process at pudhumaipenn.tn.gov.in. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has launched the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance scheme titled "Pudhumai Penn Scheme" at a function in Chennai. Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Puthumai Penn Thittam in TN Budget 2024-25

On 19th Feb 2024, Finance Minister presented Tamil Nadu Budget 2024-25. While presenting the Tamilnadu budget, FM said "A progressive state moulds the objective and execution of its welfare programs to suit the constantly evolving needs of society. As such, the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Puthumai Penn Thittam has been introduced to promote higher education among girl students from economically disadvantaged sections by providing monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000 to 2.73 lakh beneficiaries. I take pride in informing this august House that the enrolment of girl students in the first year of higher education has increased by 34 per cent this year, with an additional 34,460 girl students enrolling after the implementation of this scheme. Beginning from the next academic year, this scheme will be extended to girl students studying in Government-aided schools in Tamil medium. A sum of Rs. 370 crore will be allocated for the implementation of this scheme in the coming year". 

FM added "The Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Pudhumai Penn Scheme has been successful in achieving the objective of increasing enrolment of girls and has now revolutionised the participation of girls in higher educational institutions. On the same lines, to help boys from poor and marginalized background, studying in Government schools, realize their dreams of higher education and transform them into achievers, a grand scheme 'Tamizh Pudhalvan' will be implemented from the coming financial year".

About Pudhumai Penn Scheme in Tamil Nadu

The Government of Tamil Nadu has launched Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme to enhance the enrolment ratio of girls from Government schools to Higher Education Institutions. Through this scheme, the financial assistance of Rs. 1000/month will be provided to the girls till their completion of UG degree/Diploma/ITI/any other recognized course. The incentive amount under this scheme will be disbursed directly into the student’s Bank Account.

Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration distributed bank passbooks and ATM cards to girl students benefiting under ‘Pudhumai Penn’ scheme at Lady Doak College on 8 February 2023. The event was followed by the launch of the second phase of the scheme by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin at a function held in Tiruvallur district. 

Under the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance scheme, titled Pudhumai Penn schemes, girls studying from Classes VI to XII in government schools would receive ₹1,000 every month until they complete their undergraduate degree, diploma and ITI courses. It is aimed at increasing the enrolment of girls in government schools as well as enabling them to pursue higher education without hindrance. Students can apply through https://www.pudhumaipenn.tn.gov.in (earlier https://penkalvi.tn.gov.in/) for availing the assistance which would be remitted to their bank accounts. 

Pudhumai Penn Scheme 1st Phase Notification

Hon'ble Chief Minister on 05.09.2022 launched "Puthumai Penn" Scheme under which girl students who had completed their school education in government schools will receive Rs. 1,000 per month during their higher/technical education. pudhumaipenn.tn.gov.in Portal Registration for Phase 1

Pudhumai Penn portal has now been upgraded with significant process improvements. The Portal will now receive applications from first year students and for the leftout students from the 1st Phase. The Web Portal (https://www.pudhumaipenn.tn.gov.in) is now opened to educational institutions.

Girl students who have done their schooling in Government Schools alone are eligible for the scheme. The students can apply ONLY through their institutions and NOT directly. 

Camps for Students Registration in Pudhumai Penn Scheme 1st Phase

Camp for students registration will be conducted in the respective institutes/colleges. The student must compulsorily carry their own Aadhaar card, Transfer Certificate (for EMIS number) to the camp. Second/Third/Fourth year girl students who missed the registration during phase I, can also register in this phase. For any doubts / clarifications about the application process, a State Call Centre is functioning at Social Welfare Directorate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that be contacted on all working days.

Girl students in the higher/technicaleducation are requested to go through the procedure well ahead of the last date to ensure that they register for the financial assistance under Pudhumai Penn Scheme - a unique, novel scheme launched by Hon'ble Chief Minister to encourage girl students to pursue higher/technical education and to assure their bright future ie various disciplines.
