The state government of Kerala has launched of Medisep health insurance scheme portal for state govt. employees and pensioners. MEDISEP full form is Medical Insurance for state employees and pensioners. You can know your status, find your hospital, download reimbursement claim form at medisep.kerala.gov.in portal. Read this article till the end to know details of Medisep insurance scheme. 

Medisep scheme come into full effect, in principle from 1 July 2023. Login process started for university, treasury, municipality, panchayat, corporation and department. You can make login to download Medisep ID card.

About medisep.kerala.gov.in Portal

Medisep health insurance scheme portal is now operational at https://medisep.kerala.gov.in/. The scheme is intended to provide comprehensive health insurance coverage to all serving employees of the State Government including the High Court of Kerala who are covered under the existing Kerala Government Servants Medical Attendant Rules [KGSMA Rules, 1960] and pensioners. 

Medisep medical insurance for state employees & pensioners also includes newly recruited employees and their family, part time contingent employees, part time teachers, teaching, non-teaching staff of aided schools and colleges and their family and pensioners and their spouses and family pensioners on compulsory basis, and all Civil Service officers serving under the Government of Kerala on optional basis.

Eligibility Criteria for Medisep Health Insurance Scheme

  • All serving employees of State Government including teaching and non-teaching staff of Aided Schools and Colleges by remitting prescribed premium. In addition to the above mentioned categories, employees of the universities which receive Grant-in-Aid from the State Government and Local Self Government Institutions and the directly recruited personal staff of the Chief Minister, Ministers, Leader of Opposition and Chief Whip, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and the Chairmen of the Financial Committees shall also be considered as beneficiary for this scheme.
  • Newly appointed employees who joined service during the policy period of three years shall join the scheme by remitting the premium from the month of joining and can avail Rupees Two Lakh per annum as Basic Sum Insured.
  • Part time Contingent employees/pensioners and part time teachers/pensioners subject to remittance of prescribed premium. The part-time contingent pensioners/family pensioners and Exgratia Pensioners/family pensioners should execute an authorisation for deducting the prescribed monthly premium from their monthly pension.
  • All service pensioners including teaching and nonteaching staff of aided schools and colleges by deduction of entitled medical allowance. In addition to the above mentioned categories pensioners of the universities which receive Grantin- Aid from the State Government and Local Self Government Institutions and the directly recruited personal staff pensioners/family pensioners shall also be considered as beneficiary for this scheme.

Medisep Registration 2024

  • The beneficiaries must mandatorily fulfil their enrolment procedure as prescribed by Government within the duration of enrolment Period.
  • Enrolment of such beneficiaries shall not be allowed after the expiry of the enrolment period.
  • In case of pensioners the prescribed enrolment procedure shall be followed as specified by Government from time to time.
  • The database of beneficiaries will be maintained by the State Nodal Cell and will be shared with the selected insurer for initiating the enrolment process. The enrolment of the beneficiaries and issuance of ID cards would be undertaken by the insurer.
  • The date of expiry of policy shall be co-terminus for all the beneficiaries.
  • Insured will have the option to change the details regarding dependant beneficiary.
  • Every employee/pensioner will be notified regarding enrolment with Permanent Employee Numbers/Pension Payment Order Number.
  • The empanelled Hospitals/Nursing Homes/Day Care Clinics and the beneficiaries shall have the access to the dedicated website to see their relevant information.

Medisep Insurance Card / MED ID Card Download

  • Once you reach homepage, click at "MED Card" link or https://medisepkerala.com/.
  • Then page to make Medisep Kerala beneficiary login will open which would to enable beneficiaries to download MED ID Card.
  • Enter MEDISEP ID, Employee ID/PEN/PPONo and click "Sign In" button.

Download Medisep Reimbursement Claim Form PDF

  • Once you reach homepage, click at "Downloads" tab or https://medisep.kerala.gov.in/CircularView.jsp
  • At the opened page, click at "View" tab in front of "Reimbursement Claim Form".
  • Then save Medisep Claim Form PDF on your desktop / smartphone and then open it (representative image is here).
  • You must submit reimbursement form and other documents to the address - Vidal health insurance TPA Pvt. Ltd., Third party administrator for claim processing, door no. 40/3232, second floor SL plaza, Palarivattom, Cochin-25.

Launch of MEDISEP Scheme in Kerala

Kerala Government has roll out MEDISEP scheme as the medical insurance scheme for state government employees, pensioners and their eligible family members from 1st July. The Medisep health insurance scheme will provide cashless medical assistance with a comprehensive coverage up to 3 lakhs per year. 

Premium of Kerala Medisep Scheme 

The annual premium under Medisep scheme would be Rs. 4,800 plus 18% GST for the policy period of 2022-2024. Monthly premium of Rs. 500 will be deducted from the salary of June and pension of July onwards. An order has been issued by the state finance department in this regard. MEDISEP health insurance scheme is being implemented through the public sector insurer, Oriental Insurance Company. About 30 lakh people will be benefitted by the scheme.

Features of Kerala Medisep Health Insurance Scheme

Membership is mandatory for all employees (except All India Service officers) and pensioners who are members of Kerala Medisep health insurance scheme. Cashless treatment will be provided for those included in Medisep scheme, including existing ailments. The cabinet also approved the inclusion of former MLAs in the Medisep insurance scheme. Employees and pensioners of universities and local bodies receiving funding from the state government are also members. 

Who are Medisep Scheme Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries of the scheme will be personal staff members, personal staff pensioners, family pensioners directly appointed by the chief minister, ministers, speaker, leader of the opposition, chief whip, deputy speaker and finance committee chairmen. 
The Medisep Health Insurance scheme which is indefinitely protracted due to disputes and court cases is now being implemented. Oriental Insurance Company is in charge of running the scheme.

Medisep Beneficiaries on optional basis

All India Service Officers and their dependents serving under the State Government would be beneficiaries but on optional basis.

No insurance coverage for OP

OP category treatments are not planned. The current system of medical re-employment will continue for all government employees subject to the Kerala Government Servant Medical Attendant Rules for OP treatment in Government Hospitals and in Super Specialty Hospitals including Thiruvananthapuram RCC, Sree Chitra, Malabar Cancer Center and Kochi Cancer Center.

Kerala Medisep Insurance Coverage

Medisep Health Insurance Scheme in Kerala provides coverage of Rs. 3 lakh for 3 years. Basic cover for each family at the rate of Rs. 3 lakhs per annum within the policy term of 3 years. If the fixed amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh/year is not utilized every year, it will be lost. If the floater amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh is not utilized then it will be transferred for subsequent years of the policy.
