Uttarakhand Govt to construct 50,000 Poly Houses

Uttarakhand CM has made an announcement regarding construction of 50,000 more poly houses for farmers in the state. He said "around 50 thousand more poly houses would be constructed in Uttarakhand state in the next 2 years". Chief Minister confirmed that the state government would construct these poly houses with the help of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

While expressing his confidence in the plan, the Chief Minister stated that the construction of poly houses will benefit the farmers of Uttarakhand on a large scale. He also informed that the vegetables in the poly house in his residence were grown in organic agriculture. "Its specialty is that no pesticides are used in growing these vegetables," added Chief Minister. Organic farming is a technique-based farming that avoids the use of any pesticides but only uses manure, compost manure and some tools to cultivate different types of crops. This type of farming often uses techniques like mixed cropping and crop rotation for better yield. 

Stressing thie importance of organic and natural farming, Union Minister stated that India has brought 4.78 lakh hectare land under natural farming last year. He mentioned "To promote natural farming, the central government has approved the National Mission on Natural Farming as a separate scheme with an expenditure of Rs 1,584 crore." He also stated that due to chemical farming, soil fertility is getting eroded and climate change in days to come is going to be a big concern for the country and the world across. The lack of organic carbon in the soil is a serious concern.

What is Mukhyamantri Nutan Poly House Scheme

Under this scheme, the state government gives subsidies to farmers for setting up poly houses, so that farmers can get good income by setting up poly houses and producing fruits and vegetables. Under this scheme, the Himachal Pradesh state government is providing an 85 per cent subsidy. In this, the farmer has to pay only 15 per cent of the amount. Along with this, the subsidy is given according to the area of ​​the greenhouse.

How to get benefit of Chief Minister Nutan Polyhouse Scheme?

To take advantage of this scheme, one has to apply to the Agriculture Department. After this, an amount of Rs 3 lakh 17 thousand is approved by the Agriculture Department for setting up a Polyhouse in an area of ​​252 square meters.

One can also grow off-season vegetables in Polyhouses rather than in open fields. Fruits and vegetables are mostly produced in this. Why HP Mukhya Mantri Polyhouse Scheme is Required

More than half of the population in the hilly state of Himachal is dependent on agriculture. Farming is done in almost all the districts of the state. It is special that foreign vegetables are also grown in Himachal. If the weather is right and the farmers get a fair price, then the farmers earn a substantial profit in the crops, if the situation turns out to be adverse then the farmers feel disappointed. 

This is because the crop does not grow properly due to the weather, and when the crop does not look fresh, its prices are also reduced. However, farmers who have set up poly houses do not face such a crisis. In view of this, the Himachal government headed by Chief Minister has decided to set up poly houses. If farmers have their own poly houses, then the weather will not have much effect on the crop and the prices of vegetables will also get better.

The state government has launched "Chief Minister Nutan Poly House Scheme" with a view to double the income of farmers. Under this scheme, several poly houses will be set up in the state. With this, thousands of beneficiaries will also get employment opportunities.

Duration of HP Chief Minister Nutan Poly House Scheme

HP Chief Minister Nutan Poly House Scheme is an ongoing scheme which will run for a 5-year period in a phased manner. Farmers will have to contact the agriculture department to take advantage of Mukhyamantri Nutan Polyhouse Scheme. The special thing is that 85 percent subsidy is being provided by the state government for setting up poly houses.

Problem in Mukhyamantri Nutan Polyhouse Scheme Implementation

Due to the tiny size of the poly homes and a lack of resources for upkeep, the poly house programme, which was intended to generate self-employment in rural regions, failed to attract farmers. The size of the poly home has been expanded from 2,000 sqm to 4,000 sqm under the new programme in order to qualify for an 85% subsidy. After five years of installation or in the event of damage due to natural catastrophe, at least a 50% subsidy will be provided to replace poly sheets.

Non-empanelled vendors can build polyhouse as long as the technical standards are met. Himachal Pradesh government has set a target of building several thousand poly homes and drip irrigation or sprinkler systems with a subsidy component. Several lakh hectares will be converted to poly house farming and would be irrigated using micro-irrigation.
