Andhra Pradesh govt. has started facility to check Jagananna Thodu Scheme 2024 reports, app download status through online mode. Jagananna Thodu Scheme in AP Budget 2024-25

Finance Minister presented AP Budget 2024-25 on 7 February 2024 in which he said "Under Jagananna Thodu, Rs. 3,374 crore is disbursed to 16.73 lakh street hawkers, vendors and artisans".

AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme 8th Installment Update

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has disbursed Rs. 431.58 crore to Jagananna Thodu Scheme beneficiaries on 11 January 2024. This 8th installment under Jagananna Thodu scheme would benefit 3,95,000 small and marginal street vendors and artisans with interest free bank loans of Rs. 10,000 and more. The total amount includes new interest-free loans of ₹417.94 crore. It also includes an interest subvention of Rs. 13.64 crore, benefiting 5.81 lakh people who have availed of bank loan and repaid them on time. 

The chief minister said the scheme would be of help to small traders such as those who sell vegetables, fruits and other food items on push carts. Further, artisans making the musical instrument Bobbili veena, handicrafts such as Kondapally toys and Etikoppaka toys, hand-painted Kalamkari textiles, lace items and puppets are also receiving the benefits of this scheme. According to the CM, lakhs of street vendors and artisans are regularly availing these loans and repaying them promptly, pegging the loan recovery rate at 95 per cent.

While releasing the amount virtually with the click of a button from his Camp Office at Tadepalli, the Chief Minister said that the AP is the only State which has been implementing the scheme to help lakhs of petty traders and artisans. The number of loan beneficiaries is higher in the State than the rest of the country, he remarked.

Jagananna Thodu App Download Status

Each street vendor is entitled to get Rs. 10,000 for their business whatever they are doing on footpath or wandering into other streets. With these loans street vendors will get a chance to expand and push their business. The loans would be provided under AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme from nearest bank branches. The entire loan amount would be interest free as interest will be borne by the Andhra Pradesh government itself. The beneficiaries will have to repay the loan in instalments. Concept of AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme 2024

The new Jagananna Thodu Scheme 2024 is a very innovative and appreciable scheme started by the CM and his concerned officials running the Andhra Pradesh government. Several benefits are provided to street vendors of the AP state after the launch of scheme by CM Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy. In this scheme, the state govt. will provide Rs. 10,000 as working capital loan to all eligible street vendors.

AP YSR Thodu Scheme serve the purpose of providing capital inflow directly into the hands of street vendors. The AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme will assist the street vendors to get hold of their livelihood and lead a happy life with the loan that will be given to the beneficiaries by the concerned authorities of the government

Interest Reimbursement in Jagananna Thodu Scheme

Jagananna Thodu scheme is launched to ensure that small street vendors who do not get loans from the bank now get it easily. Earlier even if street vendors were able to get loans then they have to pay a heavy rate of interest which is now interest free. Under Jagan Anna Thodu Scheme, bank will provide loans to the beneficiaries and the government will pay the interest on behalf of the beneficiary by reimbursing the interest into the bank account of beneficiaries. 

At the launch event, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan mentioned that the small and petty vendors, artisans need not approach private parties for loans and burden their lives by paying heavy interest, as they can take loans from banks under Jagananna Thodu scheme to cater to their working capital.

Jagananna Thodu ID Cards - New Update

AP state government will provide ID cards and Rs. 10,000 interest free loans to beneficiaries of Jagananna Thodu Scheme. Street vendors who have taken loans under YSR Thodu scheme will not have to pay any interest amount as govt. of Andhra will bear this expenditure and pay interest on street vendor's behalf. Chief Minister YS Jagan has given directions to the officials to complete the linking procedure of beneficiaries with the bank as soon as possible.

Objectives of Jagananna Thodu Scheme 2024

AP Jagananna Thodu scheme is for beneficiaries who belongs to only those States / UTs which have notified Rules and Scheme under Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014. The entire YSR Thodu application procedure is available at the official website which is started by the concerned authorities at the launching party of the scheme. 
The main aim of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to enable small businesses flourish across the state of Andhra Pradesh and contribute in GDP growth. Many of the street vendors will be covered under this scheme and they will get 10000 rupees loans to help their business grow into a large one.

AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Here is the eligibility criteria which must be followed by the beneficiaries to become eligible and apply for AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme:-
  • Vegetables, fruits, ready-to-eat street food, tea, pakodas, bread, eggs, textile, artisan products, books/ stationery sellers are eligible under the AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme.
  • Barbershops, cobblers, pan shops, laundry services are included in the street vendors category and can get bank loan of Rs. 10,000.
  • The age of the small trader should be at-least 18 years.
  • The trader should have a family income (from all sources) of Rs. 10,000 in villages and Rs. 12,000 in towns.
  • People carrying and selling goods on the streets are also eligible for Rs. 10000 loan.
  • People who sell groceries at footpaths, carts on the streets, various items on bicycles, vegetables, and fruits are eligible.
  • Detailed eligible lists will place on the notice boards of the village and ward secretariats and a social audit will be conducted.
  • People having permanent or temporary shops in villages or towns in a space of 5 feet long, 5 feet wide, or less are eligible for the scheme.
  • People who sell groceries at footpaths, carts on the streets, various items on bicycles, vegetables, and fruits are eligible.
  • All those people who are doing business on carts on the roadside, on the sidewalks, in public and private places are eligible
  • People who run tiffin centers along the road are eligible.
  • People who sell various items on stalls or baskets are also eligible.
  • Upon checking the AP Jagananna Thodu Scheme eligibility, street vendors can apply online or through volunteers to get Rs. 10k interest free money in cash from nearest bank.

Maximum Loan under Jaganana Thodu Scheme

The petty traders, who have been repaying the loans promptly and taking repeat loans, can get an annual increment of Rs. 1000 on the loan amount of Rs. 10,000 can avail a maximum loan of Rs. 13,000 under the scheme, he said.  The Chief Minister observed that the petty traders are also rendering great social service to people and helping others by selling vegetables, fruits and food products in push carts, baskets, on motorcycles and auto rickshaws on streets.

Artisans who work on brass items and make Bobbili Veena, Kondapally and Etikoppaka toys, Kalankari and lace items and puppets have also been receiving loans under the scheme, he said. “I had seen their troubles during my padayatra and the idea to launch the scheme was born to save them from loan sharks. The interesting part of it is that 80 per cent of the beneficiaries are women and again, majority of them belong to SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities,” he said.

How to Make Registration for Jagananna Thodu Scheme

Petty traders and artisans who have not yet availed the scheme so far can enroll into it by calling toll free number 1902 or approaching volunteers and village and ward secretariat staff. He thanked the bankers, MEPMA officials and village and ward secretariats for running the scheme successfully.
